OPT., PHOT. Distance hyperfocale et, p. ell., hyperfocale, subst. fém. Distance la plus petite à partir de laquelle un appareil photographique, mis au point sur l'infini, donne l'image nette d'un objet. On obtient une image nette des objets situés entre l'infini jusqu'à une quinzaine de mètres, c'est-à-dire la moitié de l'hyperfocale, l'appareil est alors mis au point sur l'hyperfocale (PRINET, Phot., 1945, p. 29).
Prononc. : [], masc. plur. [-o]. Étymol. et Hist. 1902 (Nouv. Lar. ill.). Formé de hyper- et de focal.
